Bradley Associates, Swiss tell the US that it will not let UBS give out client data. (I-Newswire) July 28, 2009 - Switzerland government has said that it will stop any data from UBS being handed over to the American authorities. The Swiss are firm on the stance that no client data will be handed over to the US.

Swiss Parliament to Help in the Release of Undisclosed Offshore Bank Accounts
On February 24, 2010, the Swiss government announced that it will seek parliamentary approval to effectively overturn a Swiss Courts efforts to block the release of information identifying U.S. accountholders at UBS AG (UBS) to U.S. authorities. In the meantime, pending parliamentary approval, Swiss tax authorities are continuing to process U.S. requests for information on U.S. clients of UBS.

Swiss Parliament Votes to Allow Disclosure of UBS Accounts
In a blow to the Swiss tradition of banking secrecy, the Swiss Parliament voted today to allow UBS AG to carry out its agreement with the U.S. government. Under the terms of the agreement, UBS promised to disclose the identities of U.S. taxpayers with hidden accounts at the Swiss bank. In exchange, the U.S. government agreed to not prosecute UBS for its role in assisting U.S. tax evaders. UBS plans to disclose the names and account details of 4,450 accounts held by US citizens suspected of tax evasion.
